Powerful ESP Module by Edge Devices

Shanghai, China
May 26, 2020

The US American start-up, Edge Devices, has chosen our ESP32-DevKitC-32D for its new “ESP Module”, an all-in-one device for microcontroller-based projects.

No more unreliable breakout boards and messy wiring! ESP Module by Edge Devices aspires to become an all-in-one device harnessing the power of ESP32 for a wide range of microcontroller-based projects. Makers who prefer a lightweight architecture can enjoy all of the benefits of Espressif’s ESP32-DevKitC-32D, which lies at the heart of the ESP Module.

The ESP Module’s circuitry allows for the control of four Panasonic SPDT relays via GPIO pins. A 5V circuitry protection allows ESP32 to be powered from the screw terminals. Two more screw terminals function as grounds for power and GPIO pins. In addition, ten more GPIO pins are routed to the enclosure terminals, for the purpose of harnessing the power of ESP32 for a wide range of applications. To this effect, six of these GPIO pins can easily be configured as analog inputs and two can be configured as analog outputs, due to ESP32’s flexible circuitry.

ESP Module’s key features and specifications:

  • Based on ESP32-DevKitC-32D, with an ESP32 dual-core processor, 32Mbit, SPI flash
  • 4x Panasonic SPDT relays controlled via GPIO pins
  • Screw terminals for relay outputs, 6 × analog inputs and  2 × analog outputs, configurable as GPIOs if needed.
  • 5V input, 3.3V, and GND
  • 5V input via terminal or Micro USB port; 5V circuitry protection
  • DIN rail enclosure

Edge Devices launched its new hardware on Kickstarter, and the company has already surpassed its $2,000 funding target. Based on previous experience, the company is confident it can avoid shipping delays, so backers should start receiving their rewards in June 2020.
