Espressif Systems, a fabless semiconductor company that designs, develops and markets wireless systems-on-chip and radio frequency (RF) semiconductors for Internet of Things, cellular, connectivity and broadcast applications, today announced volume production of its AS5900 chip that converts and drives the signals between any generic 802.11b/g/n chips and 1 GHz cable interface. AS5900 is optimized for high throughput cable TV boxes using the popular Wi-Fi standards.

The chip’s advanced multiplexing control system contains Espressif’s proprietary features that enable it to dynamically allocate time slots for transmission and receiving modes, seamlessly achieving the industry’s highest throughput.

The 1 GHz and 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n PHY integrates a high linearity power amplifier, antenna switch, and LNA into a single die SOC, resulting in minimal board space, hand-free automatic tuning for all kinds of cable conditions, and rapid application development.
