Franzininho-WIFI: An ESP32-S2-based Board for Educational Projects

Fabio Souza’s ESP32-S2-based Franzininho-WIFI board will boost the engineering skills of many students and makers in Brazil.
Fabio Souza is a Brazilian engineer, maker and teacher who created a project called Franzininho whose aim is to help students and well as technology enthusiasts in the local community develop skills in the areas of electronics and programming. Based on the power of ESP32-S2, he now hopes that his new Franzininho-WIFI board will boost the engineering skills of many people in Brazil.
Espressif’s ESP32-S2 SoC has state-of-the-art security and performance features. It comes with a single-core Xtensa 32-bit LX7 processor that operates at up to 240 MHz, with 320 KB of SRAM and 128 KB of ROM.

According to Fabio Souza himself: “We developed […] Franzininho WIFI […] to explore the capabilities of this new Espressif SoC, as well as develop programming tools and applications geared towards education”. […] “The Franzininho-WIFI design is relatively simple. We left all the pins available to the user, in addition to an RGB LED and a JTAG connector. The project is open hardware and done in Kicad.”
