ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit Released
Shanghai, China
Feb 19, 2021
Espressif’s new dev kit, based on Amazon’s Alexa Connect Kit module, ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO, eases the way for developers to build Alexa-connected devices.
Espressif Systems (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE: 688018.SH), today announced the launch of its new development kit, ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit. This development kit uses the Alexa Connect Kit (ACK) Module with Espressif, which was announced in July 2020. Both this module and the new dev kit provide seamless, out-of-box connectivity to ACK Cloud services, as well as easy implementation of such features as Alexa voice control, Frustration-Free Setup and Amazon Dash Replenishment for connected devices. Furthermore, the pin layout of ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit is compatible with that of the Arduino Zero development board and, therefore, it can be directly plugged into the Arduino Zero board, or get easily connected to other host boards and peripherals.
On this note, Teo Swee Ann, Espressif’s founder and CEO, said: “ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit is a result of Espressif’s work with Amazon, which aims at enabling makers to develop device interconnectivity and voice-controlled technologies. What’s more, ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit reduces both the cost and the complexity of building connected devices”.
As already mentioned, ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit is based on Espressif’s ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO(ACK) module, which is built around the ESP32-PICO-V3 System-in-Package. ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO(ACK) is a small-footprint (16 x 23 x 2.3 mm), powerful and general-purpose module that offers 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-Low-Energy coexistence. It has a PCB antenna and a 4 MB SPI flash, while at the core of the ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO(ACK) module is the ESP32-V3 SoC, which has an Xtensa® dual-core 32-bit LX6 microprocessor designed with TSMC’s 40 nm low-power technology. On top of this, the ESP32-V3 SoC features a crystal oscillator, filter capacitors and an RF matching network. The integration exemplified by ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit is bound to reduce the complexities of the supply chain, while also improving control efficiency, with assembly and testing done at the SiP level.
ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit provides full support for Amazon's Alexa Connect Kit (ACK), a managed service that makes it easy for device manufacturers to build products that connect quickly and easily to Amazon services at a fixed per-device cost. ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit comes with a default firmware, so that customers can effortlessly connect their devices to Alexa and the Internet, in general, without worrying about managing Cloud services, writing an Alexa Skill, developing complex firmware or companion phone applications.
By relying on ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit, users can easily, quickly and economically create products that can be used in a wide range of smart-home applications. With its compact size, high performance and seamless connectivity, ESP32-PICO-V3-ZERO-DevKit aims to become the solution of choice for makers who wish to build Alexa-connected devices.
